Mindfulness Meditation Retreat

Special Note of Cancellation in 2021:  Because of Covid-19, we regret to inform you that the 2021 Meditation Retreat must be cancelled because of the close proximity of participants to one another and the number of participants.  We are so very sorry to have to interrupt this tradition.  Anyone wishing to come this weekend and to make their own private retreat would be very welcome.

Mindfulness Benefits  In the last 20 years, there has been an enormous shift in medicine in recognizing mind/body healing approaches for medical and psychological conditions. As a consequence, there is rapidly expanding scientific literature documenting the effectiveness of mindfulness-based practices. Research continues to reflect many significant benefits to both mental and physical health such as improving mood, stress, focus, concentration, sleep, blood pressure, inflammation, cholesterol, and chronic pain.

The Buckhorn experience is an intense, focused retreat which is in silence for the most part, although there will be periods for group discussion and teacher-led interviews. An introductory mindfulness meditation retreat day for those with little or no previous meditation experience begins on Thursday evening

Retreat Leader  Dr. Dianne Lemieux has conducted  the mindfulness meditation retreat at Buckhorn for many years.  She is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified mindfulness meditation instructor.  As well as maintaining a private practice, Dr. Lemieux is associated with the University of Tennesee and the Cancer Support Community of Knoxville.

2021 Dates   Friday, February 26 and departure Sunday, February 28.
