“Spectacular, Comforting, Peaceful, Charming Historic Inn” TN\\ – TripAdvisor
Reviewed 1 week ago
This is the second time we have stayed at the Buckhorn; we have lovingly reminisced about it many times since we first stayed a decade ago. There’s not much I can add to the reviews below, other than to note that our hearts have grown even fonder. I am not normally at a loss for words, but it is hard to convey with precision how genteel and refined this Inn and its keepers are, while at the same time being warm, welcoming and down to earth. We stayed in a suite that must have been the old innkeeper’s quarters, as we had an expansive living room with fireplace, a dining area, a large fully-outfitted kitchen with laundry room, a smaller sitting room with a library, a master bedroom, two bathrooms, a linen closet, and two balconies, all decorated to a high standard of beauty and tastefulness. The kids spent a lot of time playing in the “secret closet”, and I spent a lot of time on the balcony, listening to the most enchanting birds and spring peepers weaving together their mountains-in-the-twilight songs, as the sunset flared off of Mt. LeConte. Our three breakfasts were fabulous, from Pina Colada French Toast to grilled salmon and hashbrowns. Our children had some questions about the chef one day, and they were invited into the kitchen to watch Chef Frank at work. It was so special and thoughtful, the kindness and consideration shown not just to us, but to the little ones who can sometimes be regarded with scorn at fancier places. It is also very affordable for the quality and value of what you get. The grounds are filled with beautiful springtime Lenten roses and the inn is filled with a very nice art collection. But most important of all is the feeling of joy, beauty, and peacefulness that stays with you long after you have left the Smokies. We hope to return again soon!
